Hi there! I’m Sally. A Leeds born, Bedale based yoga teacher, offering Ayurvedic massage treatments in the local area.
I took my first yoga class 11 years ago. I didn’t know what to expect, beyond getting a good stretch. But just a few minutes into the class, I could feel the tension and stress I’d been subconsciously holding start to release and disperse. By the end of the class, I was lying on the ground in Savasana, marvelling at what had just happened. I felt softer, calmer and like I’d let go of something heavy, that I didn’t even realise I was carrying! I felt connected to myself in a new and profound way… I think I was hooked from that moment. Yoga quickly became a part of my daily routine, and it wasn’t long before I decided to become a teacher, in an effort to share these benefits with others.
I trained as a yoga teacher over a 2-year period with the school of Dru yoga, teaching my first classes at the end of 2017. I am committed to continuous professional development, regularly undertaking new trainings, attending workshops, events and festivals, to expand my understanding and gain new insight on this incredibly deep and expansive practise . I spend a lot of time at home on my mat, practising and experimenting, too.
My teaching style blends the practises I love; Dru, Hatha, Restorative, Nidra and Seasonal yoga, whilst taking inspiration from Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I place a big emphasis on flow, I like a little bit of challenge, and a lot of relaxation.
In 2019 I travelled to India and spent time in an ashram to experience the yogic way of life. It was here that I discovered Ayurvedic massage; a beautiful, nourishing full body treatment, that works with certain energy points known as marma points, to encourage the healthy flow of prana, (life force or vital energy,) around the body, promoting wellbeing and inner peace. Over the last 11 years, yoga has transformed my life in many unexpected and wonderful ways. Ultimately, I am a softer, calmer, more content individual, with a broader perspective of life and what is important.
